The spirit of man is the candle of the Lord, searching all the inward parts of the belly (Proverbs 20:27).

The spirit of man is the candle of the Lord, searching all the inward parts of the belly (Proverbs 20:27).

The Recreated Human Spirit;Man is a spirit; when he is born again, he receives the life and nature of God into his spirit. The changes that are later observed in his soul and body are activated from his spirit. This is why God wants you to nurture and develop your spirit because it is only through your spirit that you can make contact with Him. You need constantly to feed and nurture your heart with the Word of God. I’m not talking about the organ that pumps blood through your body but your human spirit which acts as the soil for the Word of God; the human spirit feeds on the Word of God. No wonder the Lord Jesus said man shall not live by bread alone but by every word that proceeds out of the mouth of God (Matthew 4:4). That way, even your mind becomes productive, fruitful, renewed and completely void of the devil’s thoughts and ideas. Feed your spirit with God’s Word! God doesn’t appeal to the human mind or the senses because the mind limits God. Rather, He appeals to your spirit. He communicates and leads you through your spirit. The Bible says the spirit of man is the candle of the Lord (Proverbs 20:27). So the light of God is not in your mind but in your spirit. This is where the Word of God illuminates; “For thou wilt light my candle: the LORD my God will enlighten my darkness” (Psalm 18:28). The forces of life are domiciled in your spirit, but you’ve got to cultivate them! God’s life, character and nature are already deposited in your human spirit; but you must spend time to cultivate and nurture your spirit by learning and merditating on the Word. 1 Peter 2:2 says that you should desire the sincere milk of the Word that you may grow thereby.

You Have Supernatural Life

“These things have I written unto you that believe on the name of the Son of God; that ye may know that ye have eternal life, and that ye may believe on the name of the Son of God” (1 John 5: 13).

The English phrase “eternal life” doesn’t convey most appropriately the meaning of the original Greek word “Zoë,” which actually means “the God-life.” Eternal life or everlasting life as used in the New Testament means more than an unending life that goes on year after year after year; it is the very life of God. There are different kinds of life. We are familiar with the plant life, the animal life and the human life. The human life is quite different from the God-life. When you were born of your mother, you came with the human life from your parents. But now that you are born again, you have the God-kind of life. God has made you a partaker of His divine nature by virtue of the new birth (2 Peter 1:4). The Bible says, “Of his own will begat he us with the word of truth…” (James 1:18). That means God gave birth to us by the Word of truth. Peter also tells us we were “…born again, not of corruptible seed, but of incorruptible, by the word of God, which liveth and abideth forever” (I Peter 1: 23). God’s Word is divine and has the same life of God. It is one with Him. Just as you cannot separate a man from his word, God cannot be separated from His Word. Words are thoughts clothed with vocabulary. It follows then that God’s words, which are actually His thoughts expressed in vocabulary, represent and reveal His Person. They are one with Him and reflect His character. The Word of God is the character of God; it is the nature of God; it is the very life of God. That same Word gave birth to you. When you were born again, you were born of the Word of God. That’s so wonderful! The life you have in you is the life of the Word, which makes you a child of the Word, Hallelujah!
