The Importance of Prayer

The importance of prayer By Pastor Chris

Prayer is a privilege, it is a right given to us to approach the father in faith and through the holy ghost. That opportunity that is given to us to pray, is something the father always wants us to seize. He always wants us to take advantage of the opportunity and the privilege of prayer.

When Jesus said “men ought always to pray and not faint, he was looking at the connection that we have with the father in our communication. A constant communication that builds faith.
Faith comes by hearing the word, through that fellowship we keep hearing the word, because the father always speaks, the father always talks to us, the father always shares his word with us.

The Importance of Prayer

The bible says in the beginning was the word and the word was with God and the word was God”
God and his word are one, if you have fellowship with the father, you have fellowship with his word, and you can only have fellowship with the father through the word and by the holy spirit.

That’s why Paul taught us to pray, “the grace of our lord Jesus Christ, the love of God and the fellowship of the holy spirit spirit be with us now and always”.

Sometimes some people say that when you pray and you are talking to God, it’s a one way communication, so its a monologue. They say that you have to be quiet to listen. However you dont have to be quiet with your mouth, you dont have to close your mouth to listen to God, he is a master communicator. While you are talking to God with your mouth he can be talking to you in your spirit

How long does it take God to impart his word to the human spirit? a split second is too long, he can impart so much into your spirit in a short space of time.

Sometimes when God talks to us and we say that God said something to us, and we say what God said over several minutes, or even an hour. How long did it take God to to tell you all that? Were you listening to God for one whole hour?

It doesnt make any sense to try to think how long does it take God to do this, it could be a long time to communicate something very brief. We can say in five minutes and you may have been with the lord three hours.

God lives in eternity, he doesnt live in the realm of time. And when he imparts his word to us he doesnt consider the time.
It can be so little an amount of time, a second, and God imparts to you something you require the whole of eternity to learn and yet he gives in it such a little breath of time.

So we dont have to double the time we spend in talking to the lord to listen to him. When we talk with him our spirit gets opened up, then we hear him, we recieve from him. While we are yet talking there can be a conversation. Sometimes even when you are talking to people God speaks to you.

Your spirit is like the spirit of God, like begets like and when he ministers to you in the spirit, you receive what he shares with you in the spirit and you can communicate back to him and all of that fellowship can be taking place at the same time.

That’s why its important that when you pray your spirit is lit up, your spirit is alive to God, as you pray from your spirit.

Remember what Paul said, I will pray with the spirt and I will pray with the understanding also” he didnt say I will pay with the understanding and pray with the spirit also.
A lot of people dont realise that the reason they are not growing spiritually is that they are praying with their understanding and then they pray with the spirit also when they pray. Most of the time they just pray in their understanding but they cant grow that way.

The bible says building up yourself in your most holy faith praying in the holy ghost. Praying in the spirit or praying with the spirit or praying by the power of the spirit is more important than all the most intelligent word you could ever utter to God in your understanding.

Paul said I thank my God that I pray in tongues more than you all, that let’s you know how important he felt praying in the spirit was and why he was such a success in the ministry.

You activate your spirit by praying in the spirit. That’s why we emphasize praying in the spirits that’s the way you activate your spirit.

Paul said if I pray in an unknown tongue, my spirit prayers but my understanding is unfruitful. So when I pray with an unknown tongue, it’s my spirit that is praying. That shows us he’s already told us how to activate our human spirit which is by praying in tongues.

You can’t be taught how to pray in tongues, what you have to do is to recieve the holy spirit.

God the father is in heaven, Jesus is in heaven, the holy spirit is the God that is here with us, he makes the presence of God real and available to us. So we have to know him, we have to fellowship with him on a regular basis.

Jesus bring the grace the father supplies all of the love, the holy spirit brings to us fellowship, fellowship is the greek for koinonia it means a communion a drinking together a union with him, we come into a place of relationship, of oneness, an inseparable oneness, and you ought to enjoy that fellowship everyday. It’s not something you go into and come out of, we are in him and he is in us, hes brought us into that union that is one divine creation.

First he says, if anyone is in Christ hes a new creation. we come into Christ by the new birth, so we are in Christ.

And then he says Christ in you the hope of glory, just like Jesus said I am in the father and the father is in me
We are in him and he is in us, no wonder he says greater is he that is in you than he that is in the world. When that becomes real in your life, you live beyond fear, you dont know failure anymore,

He says ye are God little children and have overcome them, youu are not trying to overcome, you already overcame

No wonder he says count it all Joy when you go through diverse tests.
It doesnt matter what you are going through, you might be going through some hard times in your life, some of the most difficult times you have ever experienced but he says count it all Joy when you go through diverse tests, he calls then tests, these are trials and tests of your faith.

Count it all Joy if hard times come to you, if bad times come to you, why? Because success is yours, the glory is yours, you are the child of glory. The bible calls our father in heaven the father of glory.
If God is the father of glory that means you are glory

That’s why the bible says Jesus Christ the effulgence of the fathers glory, the express image of his person. And that’s exactly what he has made us to be.

You were born to be the glory of God, Jesus is the glory of God, now you are the glory of God and that becomes your confession, you say father I thank you that I am the glory of God and i express who I am today.

That’s our calling to Express the glory of God. Christ in you the hope of glory

As we behold the glory of God in a mirror we are changed from one level of glory to another.
That means when you look into the mirror of God which is the word of God you see your reflection. You see what you really look like.

Our spiritual lives depends so much on our communication with the lord, when we take time off everything else to give him attention. He said my son give me your attention. Spend time to pray and have your spirit stirred in God, as you pray you will experience an increase in the glory of God in your life.

Pastor Chris Oyakhilome;

For there is one God, and one mediator between God and men, the man Christ Jesus (1 Timothy 2:5).

Man doesn’t know reality until he finds Jesus, the Son of the living God. But who exactly is Jesus, the man of Galilee? First, He’s the Word- incarnate. This is an amazing truth. Think about it: Your word is the expression of who you are. It’s the expression of your views, opinions, thoughts, emotions, and ideas.

In the same way, the Word of God is the totality of God’s thoughts, ideas, opinions, will, and emotions. John 1:14 NKJV tells us that God’s Word was personified, and the result was the man, Jesus: “And the Word became flesh, and dwelt among us….”

His laughter was God laughing; His smiles were the smiles of God. When He stretched out His hand, that was God stretching out His hand. When He loved, it was God’s love manifested. Everything He did was the expression of God.

Secondly, He’s the character and essence of God. The Bible tells us something beautiful about Him in Hebrews 1:3: “Who being the brightness of his glory, and the express image of his person….” He’s the perfect personification of the abstract idealisation of God.

In the world, the term “God” doesn’t convey a person; it conveys an idea. God doesn’t make sense to the human mind, because they can’t find or define Him. The Bible, however, presents Jesus as God’s perfect imprint, the icon of the unseen God.

Thirdly, Jesus Christ is the glory of the Father. He’s the outshining of the Father’s glory, the radiance of the Father.

The world doesn’t understand why we can be so passionate about the man, Jesus. Until you know Jesus, God will only be an idea to you. Your search, however, stops when you meet this awesome, glorious, Lord of heaven and earth. That’s why we tell people, “Discover Jesus!” When you discover Him, you discover reality; you discover life.

As Jesus is, so am I; I’m one with Him! In Him, I live, and move and have my being. I have His righteousness, life, and nature in me. I’m the effulgence of His glory and the express image of His person. Therefore, I think, act, and live as His perfect representation. Hallelujah!

FURTHER STUDY: || Colossians 1:15-19 Who is the image of the invisible God, the firstborn of every creature: 16 For by him were all things created, that are in heaven, and that are in earth, visible and invisible, whether [they be] thrones, or dominions, or principalities, or powers: all things were created by him, and for him: 17 And he is before all things, and by him all things consist. 18 And he is the head of the body, the church: who is the beginning, the firstborn from the dead; that in all [things] he might have the preeminence. 19 For it pleased [the Father] that in him should all fulness dwell; ||

|| Hebrews 1:1-4 God, who at sundry times and in divers manners spake in time past unto the fathers by the prophets, 2 Hath in these last days spoken unto us by [his] Son, whom he hath appointed heir of all things, by whom also he made the worlds; 3 Who being the brightness of [his] glory, and the express image of his person, and upholding all things by the word of his power, when he had by himself purged our sins, sat down on the right hand of the Majesty on high; 4 Being made so much better than the angels, as he hath by inheritance obtained a more excellent name than they. ||

But he that is joined unto the Lord is one spirit (1 Corinthians 6:17).

Being born again, and having received the Holy Spirit, you’re one with the Lord.

But he that is joined unto the Lord is one spirit (1 Corinthians 6:17).

Being born again, and having received the Holy Spirit, you’re one with the Lord. He’s come to dwell within you and has mingled with your spirit.
His purpose from the foundation of the world was to be inseparably united with you.

He’s one with Jesus; He was so much one with Jesus that when Philip asked Jesus in John 14, “Show us the Father and we will be satisfied,” His response to Philip was, “Have I been such a long time with you and have you not known me, Philip?” Then He added, “Anyone who has seen me has seen the Father. I’m in the Father, and the Father is in me.”

He wanted us to understand His oneness with the Father, and that oneness with the Father is what He brought us into. 1 John 1:3 NKJV tells us,* “…truly our fellowship (our oneness, our union) *is with the Father and with His son Jesus Christ.”

Being born again, and having received the Holy Spirit, you’re one with the Lord.

Jesus prayed about this before He went to the Cross; referring to all those who’d believe in Him, He said, “That they all may be one; as thou, Father, art in me, and I in thee, that they also may be one in us…” (John 17:21). He so wanted us to be inseparably one with Him and the Father that the world wouldn’t be able to separate us from Him. And that’s what has happened. Even the angels are enthused by this, because they now look at us, and see Jesus! That’s Christianity—Christ in you; the Father’s Kingdom at work in you. Hallelujah!

1 Corinthians 1:9 says, “God is faithful, by whom ye were called unto the fellowship of his Son Jesus Christ our Lord.” This was all God ever wanted, but it was a mystery from the foundation of the world (Colossians 1:26-27). But blessed be God! The Lord Jesus gave us His life to make it possible. Now, anything that belongs to the Father belongs to us, because we’re one with Him; you’re His heir, and a joint-heir with Christ. Hallelujah!

Dear Father, what a great honour and privilege it is to be inseparably one with you. I’ll always be a victor, and walk in sync with your perfect will for me because you guide me in all things. Thank you for the guidance, promptings and blessings I receive through the Spirit, in Jesus’ Name. Amen.

*Ephesians 5:30; *
For we are members of his body, of his flesh, and of his bones.

*Colossians 1:18; *
And he is the head of the body, the church: who is the beginning, the firstborn from the dead; that in all things he might have the preeminence.

John 15:5 AMPC
I am the Vine; you are the branches. Whoever lives in Me and I in him bears much (abundant) fruit. However, apart from Me [cut off from vital union with Me] you can do nothing.
