How God’s Wisdom Guide Your Choice

“…wisdom is profitable to direct” (Ecclesiastes 10:10).

Abraham and his nephew, Lot, became so wealthy that the land couldn’t accommodate them together. There had been regular bitter arguments between their servants. Abraham knew both of them had to separate in order to stop the continual rancour between the two households. So he called Lot, “Take your choice of any section of the land you want, and we will separate” he said, “If you want that part over there to the east, then I’ll stay here in the western section. Or, if you want the west, then I’ll go over there to the east.” (Genesis 13:9 TLB). Abraham didn’t have to wait too long for Lot’s response. Lot took a look at the fertile plains of the Jordan River, well watered everywhere; the whole section was like the Garden of Eden, and that was where he chose (Genesis 13:10 TLB). Lot’s choice was based on what he saw. What he didn’t know was that God was already angry with the people of that country. In the course of time, God destroyed that whole region of Sodom with fire and brimstone, and Lot ended up in a cave, with nothing (Genesis 19). He was too ashamed to go back to his relatives, all because of the wrong choice he made. He could have asked his uncle to choose for him, instead of choosing according to his senses. Life presents us with choices everyday, and many times the more appealing option turns out to be the wrong one in the end. Just as someone rightly said, “All that glitters is not gold.” Don’t make your decision just because it appeals to your senses; rather, let the wisdom of God guide you in your choice. If your choice is based on your carnal perception, it might be destroyed like Sodom was. Don’t make your life’s decisions on the basis of outward appearance of things; ask the Lord to guide you and show you what He would have you do. He sees beyond the surface, and it is only with His wisdom that you can make the correct choices in life.

Prudence

“A prudent man foresees evil and hides himself, But the simple pass on and are punished” (Proverbs 22:3 NKJV).

Success can be defined as the ability to minimize your errors. The virtue that imparts this ability is prudence. Prudence is practical wisdom that is applicable everyday and every time. With it, you make wise choices and wise decisions. It ensures that you make fewer mistakes in your life by guiding you to make right choices. With this virtue, you’ll never be financially bankrupt. You’ll always get things right the first time you do them. A prudent person is someone who is marked by sound judgment. If God endows you with prudence, others will take notice that you have such a virtue. When Job was in great distress, everybody who came to see him reminded him of his suffering. His wife advised him to curse God and die, but Job, standing his ground said, “…the counsel of the wicked is far from me” (Job 21:16). Job was able to stand his ground because he refused the wrong counsel. What people need today to strengthen the virtue of prudence is the counsel of God’s Word; nothing else can replace it. It’s the only correct answer to every human need or desire. “The heart of the prudent getteth knowledge; and the ear of the wise seeketh knowledge” (Proverbs 18:15). You must make personal efforts to study God’s Word. This way, your paths in life will be directed by the Word of God. This is what will guide you into making the right decisions.

Go For Knowledge!

“An hypocrite with his mouth destroyeth his neighbour: but through knowledge shall the just be delivered” (Proverbs 11:9).

In Matthew 22:29, Jesus said, “Ye do err, not knowing the scriptures….” He’s letting us know that the reason people make mistakes and go wrong in their choices and actions is their ignorance of God’s Word. Those who lack accurate and relevant spiritual information from God’s Word have unwittingly programmed themselves for abysmal failure in life. A man’s problem is not anything but what he doesn’t know. In other words, your limitation in life is your lack of relevant and accurate knowledge of God’s Word; for when you get to know, that knowledge delivers you. Knowledge is power! I’m talking about knowledge of God’s Word. The Bible says through it, shall the just be delivered; not from trouble, or from the devil but into their inheritance. Your problem is not the devil; it’s your ignorance and lack of knowledge! This is the reason you find some Christians who are sick and diseased in their physical bodies, broke financially and suffering terribly. It’s not because the devil is powerful, for he is not. It is the result of their ignorance of God’s Word. The Bible never said God’s people perish because the devil is powerful, but “for the lack of knowledge” (Hosea 4:6). Ignorance is the reason many of God’s children are living below their calling. Everything you’ll ever need in your life, is wrapped up in the Word; therefore go for the Word. Study the Bible; listen to God’s Word all the time; your success, promotion, increase, progress and prosperity all depend on it. Inundate your spirit and bombard your mind with the knowledge of the Scriptures on a daily basis and watch your life grow from glory to glory and from success to success.

Beware Of The Wisdom Of This World

“This wisdom descendeth not from above, but is earthly, sensual, devilish. For where envying and strife is, there is confusion and every evil work. But the wisdom that is from above is first pure, then peaceable, gentle, and easy to be intreated, full of mercy and good fruits, without partiality, and without hypocrisy” (James 3:15-17).

There is a way that the world operates, a way the world has designed things to be and this is what Paul called the “wisdom of this world.” It is the “modus operandi” of the world. By “the world” I mean the system of the world which is headed by Satan. The Bible says concerning this kind of wisdom, that “This wisdom descendeth not from above, but is earthly, sensual, devilish” (James 3:15). The wisdom of this world is foolishness in the sight of God. The danger is that the wisdom of this world often presents to you nice-sounding, common sense, savvy principles which appear very appealing to the senses. They sound like good advice, but as far as God is concerned, they are foolishness. For example, the wisdom of this world says, “If you want to have a lot, then keep what you have and save it till you get rich” but the wisdom of God says “It is better to give than to receive” (Acts 20:35). The wisdom of this world says “The flu is in town so be careful when you are around sick people, so you don’t get infected” but the wisdom of God says, “They shall lay hands on the sick, and they shall recover” (Mark 16:18). As a child of God, you have to be careful not to get carried away with the wisdom of this world. The Bible tells you to guard your heart (Proverbs 4:23). Don’t allow just any information to get into your mind; study God’s Word so you will be full of the wisdom of God.

Anointed With Wisdom

“But of him are ye in Christ Jesus, who of God is made unto us wisdom, and righteousness, and sanctification, and redemption:” (1 Corinthians 1:30).

Christ has been made unto us wisdom. That means He has become your wisdom; you no longer function with human wisdom but with an excellent wisdom! That excellent wisdom is the wisdom of God, with which you’ve been anointed. A lot of Christians have never been taught to take advantage of that which Christ has made available to us. Many have never understood that Christianity is a supernatural life. When you realize that Christ has become your wisdom, life becomes more assured. You’ll always know the right thing to do in every situation and come out victoriously! The more you learn God’s Word, the more you avail yourself of the privileges and advantages of God’s wisdom. God’s wisdom will teach you how to manage your home, your family, your marriage, your business and your finances. When people make terrible mistakes in their lives, I feel so sorry for them because they certainly haven’t learnt how to take advantage of God’s wisdom! I tell people, “I’ve never suffered in my life and I can’t suffer!” There’s a reason for it; I function in the wisdom of God! There are people who make king-sized errors, but when you function in the wisdom of God you will walk your way out of affliction! The Bible says the whip is for the back of fools! (Proverbs 19:29). What kind of whip is it talking about? The whip of life! So if you let God’s wisdom function in you, it will be impossible for life to whip you. Now, to us here who live in time and space, there’s what we call ‘tomorrow,’ but God doesn’t live in time and space; He doesn’t have tomorrow. He knows the future, therefore when you function in His wisdom, you will surely walk through all your tomorrows victoriously! God knows the wrong steps you’re going to take, but you know what? With His help you can change those wrong steps ever before you make them! You don’t have to make blunders; you’ve been anointed with wisdom to deal wisely in the affairs of life.

SEPTEMBER 14, 2020: HE HAS MY HEART!

I declare that I’m in Christ, born again and full of the Holy Spirit. He has my heart! I have the life and nature of God in my heart. There’s a change in my heart; a transformation inside. I experience transformation and glory in my soul and body as a result of the impact and influence of the life and nature of God in my spirit. The Kingdom of God is set up in my heart. The Holy Spirit finds expression in my heart, dispensing His love through me. Out of the good treasures of my heart, I bring forth good. I’m mightily blessed by the Holy Spirit. I’m a life-giver. Thank You dear Father, for setting up your Kingdom in my heart. With my heart, I envision and apprehend the realities of the Gospel and of our Kingdom-life. I pray for the unsaved around the world, that their hearts be open to receive the Gospel, and be saved; that your power for salvation will mantle their hearts even now, in Jesus’ Name. Amen. Hallelujah!

SEPTEMBER 15, 2020: HE’S WITH ME AND IN ME!

I declare that the Holy Spirit is my comforter, helper, teacher, guide, standby, counsellor and advocate. He’s with me and in me; therefore, I can never be in the dark or miss my way in life. He lives in my heart and abides with me forever. I’m conscious of His presence in my life. Irrespective of what I may face in my life, divinity is at work in me! Greater is He that is in me than he that is in the world. I’m manifesting Christ; Christ in me, the hope of glory! Heaven is in me; The fullness of the Godhead is fully tabernacled in me, and expressed through me! Thank You dear Father, for the great honour and blessing of having Christ live in me by the Holy Spirit; by virtue of His indwelling and abiding presence, I’m infused with divine energy and supernatural wisdom to do the will of God, and live triumphantly over the devices of the evil one and the corrupting influences in this world. Hallelujah!
