GENRES OF MUSIC THAT REASONATES WITH YOUR PERSONALITY.

Two years ago, a research was held to determine if there is a connection between one’s personality and the type of music he prefers to listen to.

The research, from around the world suggests that an individual’s favourite music genre is closely linked to his or her personality. But before we conclude which music reasonates your personality, we will give you a brief history on how this genres originated.

We have many types of music but let us deal with these:

The Various Types of Musics:

  • Blues:

Blues is an African-American music that traverses a wide range of emotions and musical styles. “Feeling blue” is expressed in songs whose verses lament injustice or express longing for a better life, loss of loved ones, jobs, and money though blues is also a dance music that celebrates pleasure and success. Ambiverts and extroverts enjoy this type of music but not as the introverts do.

Blues is a new combination of African and Western music. Some blues songs are often slow and sad but others are about being in love, or having fun, and these are up-tempo and good to dance to.

Various blues styles developed over the years, some in small towns of the American south and others in cities like Chicago and New Orleans. Blues influence nearly every genre of popular music, from jazz and soul to hip hop.

List of Blues You Can Listen to at Your Leisure Time are:

  1. The Thrill Is Gone – B.B. King.
  2. Red House – Jimi Hendrix.

  4. Sunshine of Your Love – Cream.
  5. Born Under A Bad Sign – Albert King.
  6. I’m Tore Down – Freddy King.
  7. Pride and Joy – Stevie Ray Vaughan.

Second on our list is…

  • Jazz Music:

Jazz is a music genre that originated in the African-American communities of New Orleans, United States, in the late 19th and early 20th centuries, with its roots in blues and ragtime (a kind of music evolved by black American musicians in the 1890s, played especially on the piano). Jazz is characterized by swing and blue notes, call and response vocals, polyrhythms and improvisation.

Jazz has all the elements that other music has:

  • It has melody which is the tune of the song, the part you’re most likely to remember.
  • It has harmony, the notes that make the melody sound fuller.
  • It has rhythm, which is the heartbeat of the song.

But what sets jazz apart from other songs is this cool thing called “improvisation”. When you listen to jazz, the music stimulates a calming effect on your body, signalling your central nervous system to lower your respiratory rate and heart rate.

According to research, jazz also improves your verbal ability, focus, memory and mood, as was noted in patients that had suffered from a stroke.

You can even enjoy jazz music while you’re reading and extroverts enjoy this genre of music a lot.

The mix of rock and roll and R&B is now known as “British rhythm and blues”. By the 1970s, the term “rhythm and blues” changed again and was used as a blanket term for “soul and funk”.

R&B is also a form of popular music of US black origin which arose during the 1940s from blues, with the addition of driving rhythms taken from jazz. The lyrics are usually sensual and they are mostly focused on love and sex. It was an immediate precursor of rock and roll.

With our hands lifted up,
And our mouth open wide,
Oh oh Lord we sing your praise
With our hands lifted up
And our mouth open wide oh Lord our God,
We sing your praise…

Chorus: We sing praise him,
Praise him
Praise him
Lamb on the throne /2x

Trees in the field worship you
Birds in the air bow to you
Kingdoms and nations magnify your name
Men on Earth sing your holy praise

Chorus: We sing praise him,
Praise him
Praise him
Lamb on the throne /2x

Mountains and hills worship you
The stars and the moon bow to you,
The works of thy finger magnify your name
All creation sing your holy praise

Chorus: We sing praise him,
Praise him
Praise him
Lamb on the throne /2x
