Effective Prayer By Pastor Chris Oyakhilome

It’s inspiring to think about prayer, it’s wonderful to get involved in prayer but it’s greatest when you pray and you receive answers, you are able to look back and say look what me and God has done

James 5:16 says “confess your faults to one another and pray for one another that you may be healed, the effectual fervent prayer of a righteous man availeth much”

To confess your sins here means that when we wrong each other we should be able to own up and say I did wrong, it doesn’t mean you should go and start confessing your sins.

The word of God is telling us that we can effect changes. Without God’s word informing us, we do not know that we can.

So he’s telling us because he knows you may not think your prayers will work, he knows you may be looking for somebody to help you pray, so he’s telling you your prayer works. Don’t think you are too small your prayer works.

He didn’t say the effectual prayer of a lot of people or of many ministers works, he said the effectual fervent prayer of a righteous man availeth much. One man that’s what it takes.

First he says confess your faults, then he says pray, prayer helps to develop something within you. Do you know that those that you pray for, you do not criticize. When you pray for someone, you do not criticize them, you become more patient with them because you are seeing in them the fruit of your prayer.

What prayer is effectual and fervent? what does it mean to pray earnestly? it’s not because you said it ten times that he’s going to hear you.

It is heartfelt, the prayer that touches you. It is continued, you don’t just say it and go, your emotions are built into it. You feel it deeply, you are passionate about the thing you are praying about.

Continued doesn’t mean you pray about it everyday. it may be for an hour two, but you continue praying until you know that your prayer has been answered.

The amplified version says the effectual fervent prayer of a righteous man makes tremendous power available dynamic in its working. This makes you know that you might be praying inside your room but you are making an impact.

James.5.17 – Elias was a man subject to like passions as we are, and he prayed earnestly that it might not rain: and it rained not on the earth by the space of three years and six months.

Elijah was a human being with feelings, affections and a constitution ours. He went through the kind of things we could go through. The Bible says Elijah prayed earnestly because he was going to be changing the nature of things. It was necessary that the rain should fall but Elijah did not want the rain to fall, so he had to pray and he obtained results.

Perhaps things are going bad in your family and you want a change, what are you going to do?

Heartfelt does not mean crying to God about your problems, that is crying out of self pity and self pity destroys Faith.

The Bible said about Jesus that he was moved with Compassion. Your heart doesn’t have to be filled with sorrow.

Heartfelt continued means you are bearing all your energy into your prayer, you set all your energies on the change that you desire. It doesn’t happen by your frowning, clenching your fist or shouting. It’s just a state of mind.

A lot of people try to get the formula of prayer, there is no formula, prayer is based on relationship. There are things in your life that will not change until you pray like this and in one day you can change the rest of the future.
It’s not the words that you speak that is important, it is the fact that your heart is in it and it you continue in it.

So believe that when you pray you are able to change things. Know that you can make a difference. All You need is to set your attention on it, put your heart there and get ready for tremendous results.

THE KEY TO EFFECTIVE PRAYER

“…The earnest (heartfelt, continued) prayer of a righteous man makes tremendous power available [dynamic in its working]” (James 5:16 AMP).

There’re Christians who wonder why they should pray at all since they don’t get results when they pray. For such folks, the reason their prayers are ineffective is that they are ignorant of God’s Word. If you’re a Christian, you ought to know you have the right to pray and expect answers.

Prayer doesn’t have to be lengthy or complicated; God’s response isn’t dependent on your “much speaking” (Matthew 6:7), or the length of time you spent praying. 1 Corinthians 1:9 tells us, “God is faithful, by whom ye were called unto the fellowship of his Son Jesus Christ our Lord.” We were called into companionship and participation with Jesus Christ our Lord. This means you can talk to Him as a friend and He’ll surely listen to you. You see, prayer is first and foremost a fellowship with your heavenly Father. It’s not as difficult or mysterious as some have been made to believe.

You need to recognize that you’re in communion with God, the Creator of the universe. Your prayer becomes effective when you walk in the knowledge of your righteousness in Christ Jesus. This is the beauty of prayer. James 5:16 says, “…The effectual fervent prayer of a righteous man availeth much.” Put differently, the prayer of a righteous man makes tremendous power available, dynamic in its working (James 5:16 AMP). This Scripture doesn’t say that every man’s prayer gets results. It’s the prayer of the righteous man! That prayer makes tremendous power available.

The life of righteousness is not attainable merely through good deeds but by faith in Christ Jesus. Faith, the Bible says, comes by hearing God’s Word. What you need to make your prayers more effective is the knowledge of God’s Word. The Word of God will instruct you in righteousness (2 Timothy 3:16). It’ll build in you the right consciousness—righteousness-consciousness.

I declare that I’m in Christ, born again and full of the Holy Spirit. He has my heart!

SEPTEMBER 14, 2020: HE HAS MY HEART!

I declare that I’m in Christ, born again and full of the Holy Spirit. He has my heart! I have the life and nature of God in my heart. There’s a change in my heart; a transformation inside. I experience transformation and glory in my soul and body as a result of the impact and influence of the life and nature of God in my spirit. The Kingdom of God is set up in my heart. The Holy Spirit finds expression in my heart, dispensing His love through me. Out of the good treasures of my heart, I bring forth good. I’m mightily blessed by the Holy Spirit. I’m a life-giver. Thank You dear Father, for setting up your Kingdom in my heart. With my heart, I envision and apprehend the realities of the Gospel and of our Kingdom-life. I pray for the unsaved around the world, that their hearts be open to receive the Gospel, and be saved; that your power for salvation will mantle their hearts even now, in Jesus’ Name. Amen. Hallelujah!

I declare that I'm in Christ, born again and full of the Holy Spirit. He has my heart!

It’s Important To Know And Use What You’ve Got In Christ

Rhapsody of Realities Confessions

SEPTEMBER 15, 2020: HE’S WITH ME AND IN ME!

I declare that the Holy Spirit is my comforter, helper, teacher, guide, standby, counsellor and advocate. He’s with me and in me; therefore, I can never be in the dark or miss my way in life. He lives in my heart and abides with me forever. I’m conscious of His presence in my life. Irrespective of what I may face in my life, divinity is at work in me! Greater is He that is in me than he that is in the world. I’m manifesting Christ; Christ in me, the hope of glory! Heaven is in me; The fullness of the Godhead is fully tabernacled in me, and expressed through me! Thank You dear Father, for the great honour and blessing of having Christ live in me by the Holy Spirit; by virtue of His indwelling and abiding presence, I’m infused with divine energy and supernatural wisdom to do the will of God, and live triumphantly over the devices of the evil one and the corrupting influences in this world. Hallelujah!
