?📜TEXT: JEREMIAH 20:7-18?

🔑📖KEY VERSE: “But the LORD is with me as a mighty terrible one: therefore my persecutors shall stumble, and they shall not prevail: they shall be greatly ashamed; for they shall not prosper: their everlasting confusion shall never be forgotten” (JEREMIAH 20:11).

On December 10, 1914, there was a massive explosion in West Orange, New Jersey in USA that engulfed and destroyed Thomas Edison’s entire life’s work. Calmly, Edison told his astonished 24 year-old son, Charles “our entire factory has been burnt to ashes, but all the mistakes we made so far have been burnt with the factory; we will start all over again afresh tomorrow”. He was 67 years old at that time. The next day was a fresh beginning for the inventor and his son.

In the text, Prophet Jeremiah was also in despair, having been mocked, derided, confounded, discouraged and terrorised. His agony almost took the better of him to the extent that he accused God of deceiving him into seemingly difficult and arduous ministry. For a moment, he even decided not to preach or deliver God’s messages again because of the contents and repercussions of the messages. But the Lord never abandoned him. Through divine succour, sustenance, enablement and reassurance, he was able to pull through his travails and continue his ministry successfully.

Sometimes, we go through times we wish never existed! One may go through difficulty where one might wish that one should die! Only a strong desire to fulfil one’s God-given mission will propel one forward. Great people do not cry; they try to rebuild their dreams. They do not give up but live up to the challenges life throws to them. They start all over again with great hope, ardour, determination, zeal and resilience!

Be assured that the Lord will never forsake you, no matter what your travails are. Look beyond the setback and visualise the loving God, who is always close by to succour the courageous.

✍THOUGHT FOR THE DAY: No challenges, no success; know challenges know success.

HE’S EVER FAITHFUL Your Behaviour Doesn’t Change God

BE GRATEFUL It’s Thanksgiving

TO THE BIBLE: Exodus 3:15
“Moreover God said to Moses, “Thus you shall say to the children of Israel: ‘The LORD God of your fathers, the God of Abraham, the God of Isaac, and the God of Jacob, has sent me to you. This is My name forever, and this is My memorial to all generations.”
Everyone has a name, and God is very interested in the meaning of names. This is why He changed the name of “Abram” (exalted father) to “Abraham” (father of many), and “Jacob” (deceiver) to “Israel,” meaning a prince of power with God. But despite the change in Jacob’s name, God still introduced Himself to Moses as “the God of Abraham, Isaac and Jacob.” Why was that so? After all, He didn’t say, “I’m the God of Abram,” but “the God of Abraham.”
The reason is that God was at the time concerned about Israel’s attitude as a nation; they acted in a manner that wasn’t consistent with God’s will for them, and whenever they did so, He called them “Jacob.” However, when they acted according to His Word, He called them “Israel.” Thus, in saying, “I’m the God of Jacob,” instead of Israel, He lets us know that irrespective of Israel’s behaviour, He was still their God, and remained faithful to them.
It reveals something extraordinary about the character of God: He’s faithful to us even when we’re not. He doesn’t change His character because of your character and behaviour. No wonder in Jeremiah 31:3 God says, “…I have loved you with an everlasting love….” God has already accepted you as His very own (Ephesians 1:6). He doesn’t turn His back on you just because you made a mistake. However, He expects you to be unwavering, with unshakable faith in His Word.
Go Deeper: Romans 11:29, Isaiah 54:10
I thank you precious Father, for your unchanging faithfulness and unconditional love towards me. I’m safe and secure in you, confident that you’ll never leave nor forsake me. Thank you for being my ever-present help in time of need. I stay connected to you with all my heart, unmovable in my faith in your Word, in Jesus’ Name. Amen.
Have you stayed away from fellowshipping with God because of something you did wrong? You don’t need to run away. God’s love for you hasn’t changed and will never change. So rekindle that fellowship today by saying the prayer above again; and fellowship with the Lord from today.

If there’re no challenges to your faith, your faith can’t be strengthened.

(Challenges: Life’s Tests For Your Promotion)

TO THE BIBLE: 2 Corinthians 1:3-4

“Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of mercies and God of all comfort, who comforts us in all our tribulation, that we may be able to comfort those who are in any trouble, with the comfort with which we ourselves are comforted by God.”

The Christian life is a journey, and in that journey, there are challenges. These challenges are springboards for your promotion. Some have thought the moment they became Christians, they would no longer face challenges. Bewildered, they ask, “Why do I still have troubles? Why do I still have problems with my health? Why is it that when I pray, the things I pray about don’t happen instantly?” These and other related questions puzzle their minds from time to time.

If there’re no challenges to your faith, your faith can’t be strengthened. Life isn’t about how smooth things are; you aren’t promoted without the tests of life; that’s what challenges are. God has to let you face certain things so you can exercise your faith and win; and when you do, you’re decorated for more. Never buckle in the day of trouble. Don’t cry. Instead, eyeball the devil and say, “Devil, no matter what you do, I’m more than a conqueror. Greater is He that’s in me, than he that’s in the world.”

Learn from the Apostle Paul who despite the tribulations, trials, and temptations he faced, didn’t buckle under the pressure. Rather, he latched on to the consolation of the Holy Spirit, while consoling and comforting others who were in trouble with the same comfort he had received. That same comfort of the Holy Spirit is available for you today. Therefore, no matter the challenges you face, they’re bread for you. Stand tall and refuse to fear. Keep the Word of victory in your mouth! You have the comfort of the Word, and the consolation of the Holy Spirit, to go on and win!

Heavenly Father, I thank you for the strength, comfort, boldness and faith that your Word ministers to my spirit. I’m confident to withstand and subdue the challenges that may come my way, conscious that they’re the springboards for my promotion, in Jesus’ Name. Amen.
